Following the Managing Partner election process within KPMG Luxembourg, on Monday evening the partners reconfirmed David Capocci as KPMG’s Managing Partner for another four years, as of 1 October 2024. Elected for the first time on 16 March 2020, he will continue supporting the firm’s transformation journey and vision to be the clear choice for clients, partners and people.

On Thursday 14 December 2023, the People & Leadership Group of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg (BCC) held an event dedicated to "Artificial Intelligence - Bridging the Knowledge Gap" at the Luxembourg School of Business (LSB). This event followed the format of a "kitchen table conversation" (KTC), a "safe place" where - according to moderator Virginia Anderson - people have their "most fruitful" discussions, where they "tell stories and have disagreements", while discussing topics they consider to be important.

As you may know, the current tax treaty between the United Kingdom and Luxembourg was signed in London in May 1967 (before the UK joined the EEC) and was amended several times over the years. A new UK-Luxembourg tax treaty was concluded in June 2022 (after the UK left the EU) and will enter into force in 2024. The main reasons for an overhaul of the existing tax treaty include the UK’s withdrawal of the European Union (Brexit) and the evolution of tax standards put forward by the OECD and the BEPS project in recent years.

The British Chamber of Commerce and Amcham hosted their annual Personal Tax lunch at Hotel Parc Belair on Tuesday 21 November. Our special guest speaker, Laura Foulds, Analie Tax & Accounting, updated attendees on changes in Luxembourg Personal Tax during 2023 and expected changes for 2024, briefed on important items to ensure individuals can best optimise their situation before the end of the year and gave feedback on commonly asked questions around filing Luxembourg taxes.
