The historic steam train at the Fond-de-Gras is getting a British makeover on 09 June for Cockerill’s Day. Part of the Train 1900 association is a Cockerill 502 locomotive by Belgian-British engineer John Cockerill, which will be out for a spin on 09 June. You can also take a trip on the Routemaster double decker bus, see a red telephone box and other UK classics, including, of course, tea and other refreshments.
Immerse yourself in the “British” atmosphere thanks to the double-decker bus “Routemaster”, an authentic red telephone box or English guards patrolling the platform…
Try your hand at the noble discipline of tea duelling. Stalls selling British products will allow you to take home a nice souvenir: a good whisky, a book or some typical English food.
Children can have fun in the Paddington Kids Corner with games, face-painting, colouring etc. A cinema train is also waiting for you to (re)discover the mythical sketches of Mr Bean.
For the visitors, one could not imagine a more beautiful way than to reach the Fond-de-Gras by Train 1900, from its departure platform in Pétange (rue de Niederkorn, free parking). Departures are scheduled at 10.30 am, 1.15 pm, 2.15 pm*, 3.15 pm, 4.15 pm*, 5.15 pm, 6.15 pm* and 6.45pm . (* steam locomotive)
The “Minièresbunn” mining train will have four departures: at 11.05 am, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm, for an impressive journey into the heart of the mine.
In addition to the regular schedule, the Cockerill locomotive will run between Fond-de-Gras, Fuussbësch and Bois-de-Rodange.
Schedule of the Cockerill locomotive:
Fond-de-Gras to Bois-de-Rodange: 4.20 pm
Fond-de-Gras to Fuussbësch: 11am, 1.20pm, 5.10pm
