We hope you have all had a great start to the new year! This is the perfect time to reflect on what we’ve achieved and think about what we want to change for the coming months. As we roll on into 2023, here is one commitment we can all get behind, one that helps our planet: make changes to our carbon footprint. Whether we’ve already been implementing sustainable practices in our day-to-day activities or we’re planning to turn over a new leaf, it is always good to get a sense of what is our carbon footprint.
As a reference, the UK average carbon footprint is about 10 tonnes CO2 per person per year. This is more than double the world average. To have the best chance of avoiding a 2℃ rise in global temperatures, the average global carbon footprint per year needs to drop to under 2 tons by 2050.
