Rugby Club Luxembourg Community Project
“In October 2021, the RCL community project was launched. We decided as a Club that we could more by giving back to the community through rugby in the same way we got so much from it.
We started out modestly with kit and boot donations to Kenya. By mid last year we had covered the travels to Luxembourg of high school leavers in Kenya and Fiji from struggling families to give them the chance to expand their life and work experience. We also paid for practical qualifications like driving licences that will allow them to find a job in their country of origin.
Additionally, last year we launched the initiative “Every Bra Counts”: a project to collect and donate Sports Bras to Women’s Rugby in Kenya.
Under this project this year will also provide female hygiene products such as menstrual cups. Both initiatives allow the girls to keep playing and doing so comfortably. #LetTheGirlsPlay.
Importantly, we have not forgotten our own community right here in Luxembourg. We’ve held various rugby clinics in different refugee shelters as a tool for them to integrate easier into society as well as stay fit and healthy. We’ve also liaised with a church in Bonnevoie where we gathered and donated items ranging from toiletries, winter clothing to food from parents, players and coaches.
We hope to keep growing and keep doing more for our community.
