Luxembourg goes to the polls twice this year. The housing crisis, the country’s ability to attract talent from abroad, language barriers and hurdles for trailing spouses: the outcome of the vote will determine how the country – and communes – deal with such issues.

Half of Luxembourg’s population is from abroad, and an even higher share of workers. So it is an important year for Luxembourgers, as well as for foreign residents. Yet preciously few of us will use our chance to go to the voting booth on 11 June, the day of the communal elections.

Luxembourg Times Editor-in-Chief Douwe Miedema will query politicians of the four main political parties about this uniquely Luxembourgish conundrum, in a panel discussion on 18 April. The participants are Luxembourg mayor Lydie Polfer (DP), Chief Alderman Serge Wilmes (CSV), Councillor Gabriel Boisante (LSAP) and Councillor François Benoy (Greens).

The British Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Luxembourg Times and the American Chamber of Commerce have the pleasure of inviting you to attend this debate in person. This will take place on Tuesday 18 April at 19:00 at ING Luxembourg, 26 Pl. de la Gare, L-1616 Luxembourg The discussion will conclude after one hour, after which there is a chance to enjoy drinks and canapes with the other guests.
